Luigi Carraro is re-elected as president of FIP

Luigi Carraro has been unanimously re-elected as president of the International Padel Federation (FIP) during the organization’s 34th General Assembly, held at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Doha as part of the FIP World Padel Championships.

After his unanimous re-election, with 85% of votes present at the assembly and by acclamation, Carraro said, “Your trust honors and moves me. Feeling it here, personally from each of you, is an additional motivation to work and build the future of padel, just as we have done so far, all together.”

Carraro then introduced addresses by the Secretary General of the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF), Tariq Darwish Zainal, and Premier Padel CEO David Sugden. After expressing his gratitude to QTF President Nasser Al-Khelaifi -“Every time padel holds a major event in Qatar, it’s a turning point for our sport, and I thank him for this,” commented the FIP leader- Carraro reviewed recent years of sensational growth for padel at all levels and announced several new initiatives supported by the Assembly, such as the World Padel Championship for pairs, courses for coaches and referees, the new Sports Justice Code, the new Ethical Code, and the official incorporation of six new federations: Andorra, Cyprus, North Macedonia, Pakistan, Romania, and Jordan.

Additionally, after officially appointing Ramón Morcillo as president of Padel Europe and Jorge Mañe as president of Padel Americas, Carraro announced the creation of Padel Asia, with QTF Secretary General Tariq Darwish Zainal as its president.

During the assembly, the members of the new FIP Board of Directors were also elected, comprising Eduardo Da Silva Langer (Brazil), Jorge Mañe (Mexico), Ramón Morcillo (Spain), Koji Nakatsuka (Japan), Fabián Parolin (Chile), and Roberto Pellegrini (Italy).
